RiverWatch

The purpose of this project is to monitor environmental indicators in the Kettle River Watershed to assess river health and changes and to educate and foster stewardship of our rivers. River health is directly tied to fish and wildlife populations and the ability of them to persist in our environments.

Water monitoring happens twice a year, once in the spring (high water), and once in the fall. Participating students and their teachers are taken into the field. Water samples are taken and the tests administered.  The students get to learn about this process and they are kept informed of the results.

The Granby Wilderness Society has support from the following participating schools in our area: Walker Development School, Grand Forks Secondary School, Midway School, Curlew School, and West Boundary Elementary School.
